Dear parents, a child will do anything to satisfy their need for connection and when we don't satisfy this need, your child will show negative attention seeking behaviour. For this child in particular, he didn't want to leave his father's presence even when the father asked him to stay with the sisters. All he wanted was to feel connected with his dad. This was actually an age-appropriate expected behaviour that does not require raising of voice, hitting or getting irritated otherwise, you'll feed your child's negative attention behaviour. I'll encourage you to always satisfy your child's need for relatedness and prepare your child ahead of time about whatever it is you want to do, provide options of activities they can engage in prior to when you finish. By so doing, your child will feel valued, heard, seen and connected to you. Remember, doing this requires patience.
