The last 18 months of the Covid-19 pandemic have fundamentally reshaped what FMCG consumers buy and how they shop. Some of these shifts in behavior will be short-lived, while others will be with us for the long haul. Will shoppers, especially in markets without a strong pre-pandemic delivery culture, go out to a supermarket to buy lunch during the workday? Or will they demand delivery to their desk, home office, or remote work location? How can FMCG companies pivot to winning the online shopping competition against their competitors? From the corporate side, the pandemic shock has refocused many sub-sectors on localized manufacturing—is this a trend that is here to stay?
