If you travel through Mysore Road in Bengaluru, this update could bring you some relief. The Karnataka government is planning a major step to reduce traffic congestion in this busy area. A project worth around ₹810 crore is being planned, focusing on building an elevated corridor to improve traffic flow. Right now, officials are working on a detailed project report, which will decide how the project moves forward.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar shared this update while responding to a question in the Legislative Council. He explained that traffic on Mysore Road and nearby areas like Chamarajpet has been a serious issue for the past couple of years.

Based on a feasibility study, the plan is to extend the existing flyover, which currently ends at Sirsi Circle, all the way to BHEL KIMCO Junction. This route is very important as it connects central Bengaluru to the south western parts of the city. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams.

Along with this, several other infrastructure works are also in progress. After the Nayandahalli flyover, a new arch flyover near Rajarajeshwari Nagar is being built, and land acquisition is ongoing. In addition, road improvement work from Rajarajeshwari Nagar to Kengeri, worth 75 crore rupees, is almost complete. However, the government has made it clear that there are currently no plans for alternative solutions like tunnel roads or roads along stormwater drains in this area. So, while it may take some time, a long term solution to Bengaluru’s Mysore Road traffic problem is definitely in the works. Stay tuned to KATV India for more updates!
