Bishop Paolo Martinelli, Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia, has issued a message to the faithful at the beginning of the Christmas Season.
For the Catholic Church, Christmas is the joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, God made man, who comes to dwell among us "for our salvation".
In his message, Bishop Paolo underlines the connection between Christmas and hope, as the Jubilee Year draws to a close.
Bishop Paolo reminds us that Christian hope is not an idea or a plan, but a living presence: Christ Himself. “Our hope is a sweet presence, the presence of Christ. He is our hope.”
Reflecting on the mystery of the Nativity, the Bishop invites the faithful to recognize that Jesus continues to come among us today—whenever we gather in His name and welcome Him into our lives.
He encourages everyone to live Christmas as a time of peace and reconciliation, beginning within families and communities, and to share concrete gestures of peace with others.
