AHK Slovenia - German Economy Award Ceremony 2024/25

The focus of this year's German Economy Award 2024 was on the “Excellent Employer” and the growing shortage of skilled workers and on the difficulties, companies have in finding and retaining skilled workers.

🎙️ Dagmar von Bohnstein, President of AHK Slovenia:
“On the one hand, we are facing rapid technological progress that requires new skills from workers, but on the other hand, our society is ageing, which means that the supply of skilled workers is getting scarcer. Employers need to be creative to achieve this balance and build and retain highly performing teams.”

“This award reflects not only economic achievements and figures, but also shared values such as innovation, truth and justice.”

“Elections are due in Germany in less than a week's time and we in industry and business are hoping for a turnaround in economic policy to get back on the growth path. Lower costs for business, such as lower energy and labor costs, and investment in infrastructure in all areas - transport, digitalization and education - are important.”

“Labor law needs to become more flexible. More needs to be done to enable people of retirement age to find regular employment so that they can stay with the company.”

🏆The aim of this year's award was to recognize commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable workplace. This year, the German Economy Award 2024 was awarded to Medis.
