Driver’s Eye View (Czech Republic) - Steam in the Giant Mountains Part 2 - Semily to Stará Paka

Описание: This tour was marketed by the Railway touring Company as “Snow and Steam in Austria and Bohemia” Bohemia referring to the region of the Czech Republic featured. Part 1 took us from Turnova to Semily, following the course carved by the Jizera (river) through the Giant Mountains. Sunshine and occasional snow flurries, that quickly melted punctuated this leg of our trip.
Part 2 started out from Semily in glorious sunshine, steaming through attractive undulating countryside, past idyllic villages towards ever darkening skies. Light snow flurries turned to heavy snow, by the time we reached Stará Paka the footplate crew were dealing with blizzard conditions, the tour was finally living up to its name, having started a few days earlier in an unseasonably warm Prague. Watch our little tank engine run round its train in driving snow ready to continue its journey on to Vrchlabí.
