Indian Air Force Mi-17 Helicopter Takeoff-

This was a special airlift conducted on 29th December 2019 (Location: Udupi's NCC Helipad) by an Indian Air Force unit, based at Yelahanka Air Force Station, Bengaluru. The aircraft is an IAF Mil-Mi 8 / Mi-17 V1 with tail# Z-2875 (ZULU-2875).

Sequence:
0:00-0:04 - engines started using onboard generator followed by warmup
00:09 -Tail and Main rotor start rotating
01:32- 2:07 - Flight engineer conducts final pre-flight safety check( rear clamshell doors, fuel leak etc.)
03:07 - Takeoff power and RPM achieved (the beautiful rotor noise).
03:13- 03:38 - Side Gunner boards the aircraft and closes the main door. 05:50 - Lift-off initiated
06:09 - Forward lift
06:15 - Grass storm due to heavy rotor downwash.

The objective of the airlift was to transport the Holy mortal remains of one of Bharat Mata's most beloved sons, the former Mathadipathi (Senior Seer / Pontiff) of Sri Pejawara Adokshaja Mutt in Udupi, HH Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swami Ji (Śrī Viśveśa-tīrtha Śrīpādaṅgaḷavaru) from Udupi Helipad to HAL Airport, Bengaluru.

His Holiness was a great scholar of Sanatana Dharma, proponent of 'Dwaitha Siddhantha', social reformer, a visionary nation builder and a orator par-excellence. I am blessed to have grown up listening to His discourses on Srimad Bhagavatam, in person, obtain scholarly prizes from His Hands and also to witness His final journey on earth.

His Holiness had reportedly wished to take His Samadhi (Brindavana) at the Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha, Bengaluru. The special airlift was requested by the State Govt. of Karnataka, under the then Chief Minister Sri B.S. Yediyurappa and facilitated as per protocol.
