Maryland had to compete in a conference with Julius Hodge at NC State, Chris Paul at Wake Forest, Jarrett Jack at Georgia Tech, the trio of Raymond Felton, Sean May and Rashad McCants at North Carolina, and a Duke team with Chris Duhon, Selden Williams, Luol Deng, and J.J. Redick.
