Iowa Interstate QJ 6988 - The Chase to Chillicothe!

Описание: Iowa Interstate's Chinese-built QJ steam locomotive, #6988, was to pull weekend excursions in Illinois out of Chillicothe and Annawan on May 18th and 19th. On May 16th and 17th, the engine would ferry between its home base of Newton, IA and Chillicothe, IL! Here's the chase of IAIS 6988's ferry move to Chillicothe! Enjoy!

5/16/2019 - Today would be the run between Newton and Silvis, pulling 10 empty freight cars for braking! Throughout the 3 day chase, 6988 would be wearing her Southern whistle along with a Guatemalan whistle, as well as her original Chinese whistle and airhorn!

(7:38) - Grinnell, IA

(9:55) - Brooklyn, IA

(11:04) - Marengo, IA

(12:12) - Homestead, IA

(13:48) - Crossing the Iowa River at Iowa City, IA

(15:15) - West Liberty, IA

(16:08) - Street running at Davenport, IA

(17:57) - Rock Island, IL

(20:48) - Moline, IL. The crew would utilize all 4 whistles/horns on the engine for this crossing sequence!

(21:45) - Arriving at Silvis, IL

5/17/2019 - Today 6988 would run from Silvis to just north of Chillicothe. It would be pulling the Ex-Pennsylvania Railroad passenger cars plus IAIS GP38-2 #718 for the excursions the next day!

(23:36) - Carbon Cliff, IL

(25:36) - Geneseo, IL

(26:56) - Mineral, IL

(27:54) - After wyeing the train at Bureau Jct, the train would continue south with the IAIS 718 leading so that 6988 would lead north the next day

(29:09) - Henry, IL

(31:12) - The train arrives at Chillicothe, IL the next morning to begin excursions!
