The Hennessey Venom GT is America’s answer to the Bugatti Veyron.
Based on a Lotus Exige chassis but heavily re-engineered, it packs a 7.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 1,244 horsepower.
In 2014, it hit 270.49 mph (435.3 km/h) at Kennedy Space Center, making it the fastest car in the world at the time — though it wasn’t officially recognized since it didn’t run in both directions.
Still, it was a raw, lightweight, and brutally fast machine, proving American engineering could take on the hypercar elite.
