"Dual Tune", 2004.
Sclaim formed in 2000. Originally formed as Dear Lies, the group would soon change their name to Sclaim after only a few months. In early 2002, the group had its first lineup change when frontman Satoru left. He was immediately replaced by Yuito, and the group then released its first demo in February of 2002, "Aquamarine", which was limited to 100 copies. In March of 2002, Sclaim released their first single, which was self-titled, limited to 500 copies and live-distributed only, and later released their second demo that May, which was also self-titled and limited to 300 copies. In June of 2002, the group released its second single "Elan Vital", which was their first widely available release. The single had iffy sales in the visual underground, and Sclaim released two more singles, both of which were self-titled and live-distributed only, two more demos and three live-distributed omnibuses throughout the year. Presumably due to their heavily prolific nature, Sclaim would garner a decent-sized following by 2003, and the group appeared on two omnibuses that year and also appeared on the split mini-album "Dual Tune" in February of 2004. In March of 2006, the group released its fifth single "Seasons Ring", which was only available through mail-order, although by the end of the year, Sclaim's following shrunk noticeably, presumably due to their lack of original releases. The group would tour a bit throughout 2006 and 2007, but eventually ended up disbanding in 2008. All of the members would then form the indies group Adamas, although drummer Takechi (たけち) would end up leaving by 2012. The rest of the members would remain active in Adamas until its eventual disbandment in early 2014. Takechi would temporarily retire from the visual scene and instead join the indies group Mazomania which consisted of other former visual musicians, which would also dissolve in 2015. The rest of the members would reunite with Takechi and they all resurrected Sclaim in 2014, and would garner even more popularity than their heyday in 2003 and 2004. The group would release a dozen more singles from 2015 through 2020 and even released their first-ever full length album, "Inverted Eclipse", in June of 2015. Sclaim would go on a slight hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID19 epidemic, but returned in 2021 and toured a bit throughout the year until mysteriously dissolving by the end of the year. In February of 2025, after having maintained the same lineup for over 2 decades, the group announced that frontman Yuito was kicked out, and a replacement was found, thus effectively resuming the group's activities. The frontman has not been announced as of yet, and because of how recent the announcement was made relative to the upload of this video, the future of Sclaim is unknown, but seemingly hopeful.
