Iranian authorities say the country’s government structure remains intact despite the joint US-Israeli attacks on Tehran that reportedly killed Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials. Officials say Iran has activated constitutional succession mechanisms, with a temporary leadership council expected to govern while a new supreme leader is selected.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, said the country has a structured governance system and that a new leader will soon be appointed through the established process.
