The James Webb Space Telescope (abbreviated JWST or Webb) is an infrared space telescope as a joint project of the space agencies NASA, ESA and CSA, which is scheduled to be launched into space during Ariane flight VA256 on December 25, 2021 after years of delays.

Ariane flight VA256 is the 256th Ariane mission. The rocket is planned to be launched from the ELA-3 launch pad. The only payload of the flight is the James Webb Space Telescope. It has a launch mass of about 6,500 kg (14,300 lb).
