Ph.D. is a British group that had a UK Top 10 hit with "I Won't Let You Down" in April 1982 although the song had been a hit the previous year throughout Europe. The band took its name from the initial letters of its three members' surnames; Phillips, Hymas and Diamond.
Tony Hymas had already worked with Jeff Beck while Simon Phillips was a renowed session drummer, being for a while a member of Judas Priest
