You see a 57-year-old patient who wants some advice about his/her swollen feet and ankles (both feet)

Task:
*Check the patient's reason for attending the health clinic.
*Find details about the patient's swollen feet and ankles (when it happens, treatments tried, etc.)
*Explain the likely cause of the patient's swelling (fluid retention from prolonged standing: mild condition, not a concern, etc.)
*Outline other common causes of fluid retention (diet high in sodium/salt. inadequate hydration, medication, health conditions, e.g. kidney/liver /heart problems, etc..) Explore the relevance of these to the patient.
*Give information about effective hydration (water, non-caffeine drinks etc.)
*Recommend changes in diet (reduction/restriction in salt/sodium, intake of potassium-rich foods, e.g., bananas, avocados, etc...)
*Recommend a GP appointment (identify/rule out underlying health issues, etc.)
Recommend self-care strategies (e.g., exercise, elevating legs above heart when resting, using compression stockings, etc.).
