Okinawa no Kaze" 沖縄の風 (The Wind of Okinawa) is a shakuhachi solo from the Mumon Ryu system, composed by Zapata sensei. The piece is a study that uses a main melody (本手) and a secondary one (替手), which are harmoniously layered. Through the use of a modified Ryukyu scale (変化音階), it achieves a distinct, ethereal sound that feels both special and deeply moving.
