Royal Mail parent company IDS has secured a 49% stake in Collect+ through a £43.9 million investment. The deal will see 8,000 convenience stores rebranded as Royal Mail Shops.
The shops will stay open evenings and weekends, with 500 already rebranded and more to follow, plus self-service kiosks coming from early 2026.
Collect+, which runs over 14,000 outlets in newsagents, supermarkets, petrol stations and convenience stores, was bought by PayPoint in 2020 and is now valued at £90 million after IDS’s investment.
How much will this deal boost Royal Mail, and what could it mean for the future relationship between Royal Mail and the Post Office.
Marek Rozycki and Gary Winter offer their thoughts.
