Michele shares her experience of volunteering at a Grief Kind space.
"Actually the first time I came in contact with Sue Ryder is when my second husband died of cancer. They looked after him at home for the last few days and I always said that one day I would give back.
I think because I had experienced my fair share of grief; two husbands lost to cancer, mum, best friend and I survived and learned valuable lessons I thought I could probably contribute and help others.
And it gives me a sense of satisfaction that I can help somebody especially people who have no support, who are sometimes faced with a family who have left them behind, friends who've suddenly disappeared because that's quite common.
We've had a a a complete day of training as a group and it was really important to highlight you know what to say, what not to say, the breadth of the kind of problems and people that we might encounter so yeah, it's you know I felt prepared when I came here and I think it's important especially if you have had grief in your in your life it's not about your grief it's about other people's grief so yeah that was something that we were well prepared for.
