In February of 2025, Brock and I had the opportunity to travel to the Upper Essequibo River of Guyana for a week of fishing. We had heard this was one of the best places in the Amazon basin to catch a variety of fish, and it did not disappoint! Along with our two friends, we fished deep holes for catfish, fast-moving rapids for pacu, landed large saber-toothed Payaras, hiked into remote lagoons to catch arapaima, and of course, threw topwater lures for the beautiful peacock bass.

Along with excellent multi-species fishing, we also saw a large variety of wildlife, including a jaguar, a couple of anacondas, a tapir and so many birds!
