More never-before-seen footage, this time from the 21st World Scout Jamboree which was held over 12 days in Hylands Park, Essex in July/August 2007. 40,000 Scouts and leaders from 158 countries attended.
72 young people and 8 unit leaders attended from Durham as part of two units, called 'Tyne' and 'Wear'. More leaders attended the event as part of the 8000+ person strong International Service team (IST) who went just to help to run the event.
Our Jamboree footage comes from IST members David Charlton and Daniel Dutton, from the members of the Tyne unit (who took one of the Centenary Film Team's cameras along) and from some of the official footage which was given to us at the event.
This first part looks at the preparation camps of Tyne unit, arrivals and opening parties and starts to look at some of the activity zones available at the event.
