The hungarian field telephone 39 M. with buzzer only signalling is technically identical to the earlier 30 M., but features a bakelite casing instead of a wooden one. It offers a straightforward design with easily replaceable components, ensuring simple maintenance and operation.
The specimen here presented is made by Telefongyar R.T., others were made eg. by Svéd és Társa. There were an external magneto unit and a dial unit for the model 30 M., seemingly still used with the model 39 M. The model 39 M. also adds a line control button (E "Ellenőrzés").
Features
This is a buzzer only device, the buzzer is fix, not adjustable. The buzzer lever is foldable, if folded in it locks so as during transport the buzzer cannot activate.
There is a line socket which disconnects the device from the line, allowing to connect the lines between two local devices, forming a very simple switchboard option.
The bakelite baseplate has all connections either screwed on or inlaid, no wiring on the device, the coil/buzzer module can easily be replaced.
The handset socket is built such that the handset can be connected to only activate the RX side, to use the device to only listen (eg. to incoming buzz calls) and be sure to not accidentally transmit anything (my assumption why that option exists).
Line control button "E": when pushing "E" a tone must be heard in the local handset receiver, if there is no tone the line is bad, interrupted.
