Описание: James Kalm shook off the ennui of a mid summer Friday afternoon, and slipped into the Gagosian Gallery for a stroll through of “New Paintings and Works on Paper” by Jonas Wood. Wood, born 1977 in Boston has relocated to Los Angeles and taken on the legacy of some of the Left Coast’s most emblematic and recognized still life and interior painters, like Paul John Wonner, Wayne Thiebaud, and most notably, David Hockney. Wood uses scenes and photos from his personal past along with art historical references to construct coloristically charming tableaus of interiors, or isolated single ceramic objects. These pictures none the less capture a slice of contemporary adolescent innocence, and untroubled optimism, despite being presented in the messy and complex world of reality.
