According to preliminary information, Sumedh had travelled with three friends when he entered the water to swim. He reportedly ventured into a deeper section, got into difficulty, and disappeared beneath the surface.
Rescue personnel, assisted by the local administration, launched an immediate search operation and recovered his body after several hours. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered an Accidental Death case and are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
