In December of 2014 and 2015, I released digital only EPs created for one purpose: to give some calm in a very hectic time of the year. And here in December of 2025, I wanted to do something similar- but in a different way.

The music on “Infinite Ambient: Winter Landscapes” was created using the engine that creates infinite ambient listening experiences on my Infinite Ambient® website (infiniteambient.com). On the iA site, you can hit a button, and listen to a song as long as you wish, seamlessly, without sudden and jarring stops or drops in volume.

The songs on “Infinite Ambient: Winter Landscapes”, however, are decidedly “non-infinite”, and features two listening experiences that are currently on the site (“Winterchill” and “Slowly Falling”) as well as two previews of upcoming Experiences (“December Chant” and “Snow Reflecting Stars”). This is not only the first time I’ve created “finite” songs with the Infinite Ambient algorithms, but also the first project of mine to feature guitar, piano, and Chapman Stick®

My hope is that this music can give you 30 minutes of peace and calm here at the end of 2025.

1) December Chant (from the upcoming Infinite Ambient Listening Experience “Field Chant”) In early December, there is a stark beauty in the arrival of late season migratory birds against a backdrop of frozen fields. The contrast of birdsong and snow covered fields paints a somewhat barren, and slightly desolate, picture. With our earlier than usual December snows this year, it felt like the perfect time to to put all the parts of this atmosphere into the Infinite Ambient engine and see what happened.

2) Winterchill (from the Infinite Ambient Experience “Winter”) "Winter" was one of the first Experiences I put on the Infinite Ambient site back in late 2021. It features processed Chapman Stick® and field recordings of wind blowing across snow covered fields. The Stick has an almost cello tone here, and the music is somber, yet, there’s a touch of hope in this winter soundscape.

3) Slowly Falling (Infinite Mix) (from the Infinite Ambient Mix “Slowly Falling). This was the first Infinite Mix I created- where I take a previously released song of mine, and edit/remix it to create a seamless, infinite playing piece of music. This is just a ten minute sample of what awaits on the Infinite Ambient site: a piece of musical impressionism that captures the experience of watching snow slowly falling, and building up over time.

4) Snow Reflecting Stars (from the upcoming Infinite Ambient Listening Experience “Stars”) There is a quiet, almost holy stillness that occurs on a clear December night when the sky is bright and the ground is snow covered. It’s impossible for me to describe, but it brings forth almost instant musical inspiration (at least for me). “Snow Reflecting Stars” is an ambient guitar Experience that made an excellent soundtrack to the late, snowy nights in the second week of December 2025. Like “December Chant” and “Winterchill”, “Snow Reflecting Stars” is made up of short (well, relatively short) phrases of music that I’ve recorded, and their playing order is determined by a random number generator- so no two listening Experiences will be the same.
