Greg Irwin appears on Guinness World Records in Germany

Описание: One of the highlights of my international adventures was appearing on Guinness World Records television in Munich, Germany, right around 1995, give or take a year. It was a blast interacting with the five hosts, and the audience was incredibly enthusiastic. Many of them tried to follow along as I demonstrated the hand exercises, which turned into spontaneous audience participation and gave the whole segment a funny, lively energy. I did not actually break a world record that night, and honestly I could not understand much of what they were saying about me on stage, but afterward my manager told me they were basically recognizing me as having some of the most dexterous hands in the world, which I will happily take.

This marked my fourth appearance on German television, and each visit always felt a little like coming home. My grandmother was fully German, which makes me one quarter German myself. I joked with the crew that maybe it is my hands that are the most German part of me. I must have inherited them from my grandmother, who was a wonderful pianist. Something about music, hands, and Germany just seems connected for me.

And to top it all off, the trip happened during the Munich beer festival. The night after the show, I was actually recognized inside one of the big beer tents by a family who had been in the studio audience. They invited me to join them, and there I was on the edge of a balcony, looking out over a packed beer hall full of people singing loud oom pa pa songs together. TV show one night, classic German beer hall the next, now that was a trip I will never forget.
