Estrella Lasry, MSF USA, describes PEEK, a portable eye examination kit developed to aid the eye disease diagnosis and care in low resources settings. It works with a sleeve that adapts to smart phones, guides the light from the phone lamp and amplifies the image, and serves as a database of captured images/videos. PEEK seems the perfect tool to use in MSF settings, could help overcome difficulties in accurate diagnosis of cerebral malaria and improve fundus examination that is often difficult for most non-ophthalmologist clinicians.
