1. Locked to in game timeline order
2. Only have access to content according to the timeline order
3. Only have access to content i've organically discovered (through questing)
4. Soft level caps on each Era of the timeline (see below)
5. Once hitting the 6th age (mostly) following update order, some quests were released after the 6th age began that are set in the 5th age. So they will still be done in timeline order. However general non quest game updates typically have a place in the timeline eg May arrives south of Varrock after the gods have returned and Granny Potterington decides to sell her farm a few years later
