Описание:
We were in southern Spain to hunt on a traditional Monteria. Monteria means driven hunt in Spanish. On drivenhunts you hunt on moving game that are usually moved by doghandlers and their dogs.
Procedure:
It always starts with the traditional migas. Migas is the breakfast on a monteria. It consists of seared bread crumbs with lots of olive oil, salciccia and garlic. The whole thing is topped with a soft fried egg. This is traditionally served with red wine. We had no drinks before the hunts - thats for sure. After breakfast there is a lottery. Here the stands are drawn by lot among the shooters. After the official lottery, you grab a small lunch pack and drive to the respective stand with your personal guide. The monterias are significantly longer than the German driven hunts. Our hunt started at 10:00 am and ended at 3:00 pm. The stand attendant is always connected to the beaters and the hunt management with a radio and gives valuable information about the course of the hunt. After the end of the hunt, all hunters meet back at the starting point. The game is placed on the so-called "tableau". The tableau is always a concrete slab. It is forbidden by law in Spain to lay the Game of the hunt on the ground. Game is traditionally recovered with donkeys or mules. Taxidermist are assigned to the hunters on the tableau. A taxidermist is always there and takes the shooter's wishes.
Hunting rules: We hunt Wildboars with no weight limit and red deer. There was no trophy limit for the deer. The German classification according to age or trophy classes is unknown to the Spaniards.
The Spaniards classify by
a) Representative male
b) Bronze Medal
c) Silver Medal
