More than 100 cases of salmonella poisoning in Europe could be linked to a chocolate factory in Belgium.
European Union regulators told Politico that an ongoing analysis of the outbreak pointed to a chocolate production facility in Arlon.
That city, located on the border with Luxembourg, is home to a factory operated by Italian food giant Ferrero.
The company announced it would withdraw some Kinder Surprise chocolate egg products after regulators in the U.K. sought a recall.
The U.K. is home to nearly half of the reported 125 cases in Europe; most illnesses in the country occurred in young children.
Other cases were reported in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Sweden.
Ferrero officials told the BBC that none of its products for sale had tested positive for salmonella.
