Thomas Siepka, CEO and President at HCI- Healthcare Consultants LLC (www.hcihealthcare.net), is a pharmacist along with extensive experience in consulting. He has overall 30 years of experience in healthcare. Also, he had 16 years of being a director in pharmacy and 14 years in being in a presidential role or leadership role as a consultant. He explained how he landed up where he is in his career and talked about covid impact as a healthcare professional. While being as a chief pharmacy officer, he and the people working developed new innovative and interesting things like covid kits, analyzing the covid situation at the initial stage, and so on wherein he realized that his entrepreneurial mindset of his can be useful therefore he started his own venture and now also working at Gates Healthcare as a Vice President. Pharmacies have functioned as cost centers for hospitals and health systems, with financial and pharmacy leaders maintaining a laser-like focus on curbing expenditures. Being a 340B organization there's always a driving factor of cost-centricity. There are ICU beds, med surg beds, medications, and IVs that people need also there are ambulatory clinics within the organizations. He mentioned ambulatory side of pharmacy has outgrown and blossomed in the last 10 to 15 years and has a huge clinical impact.
