Описание: Sammy Davis Jr., was born on December 8, 1925 in New York City. His birth name was Samuel George Davis. His parents, Elvera Sanchez and Sammy Davis Sr., performed as vaudevillians, while dancing with the Will Mastin Troupe. Sammy Davis, Jr. began performing with Mastin's Troupe at age three. At age five, he began traveling with his father through the vaudeville circuit on a regular basis. By the time he was eight years old he had appeared in two movies.

He was drafted into the army in 1943. Eventually, he was transferred into an entertainment regiment where he performed for the troops. After returning from the military in 1950 , he began performing solo as the result of his signing a recording contract with Decca Records. "Starring Sammy Davis, Jr." and "Just for Lovers," were his first albums. He was involved in a serious automobile accident in the California desert on November 19, 1954. While recovering from his injuries, he converted to Judaism.

Sammy Davis, Jr. cultivated an entertainment career that incorporated performance through acting both in the theater and movies, music, and dance. His theatrical, screen, and music credits include:

His entertainment career spanned more than five decades. He was often billed as the "greatest living entertainer in the world". Sammy Davis, Jr. died May 16th 1990 in Los Angeles, California at the age of 64 after developing throat cancer.
