Four Venezuelan waltzes reflect Lauro's desire to rescue and celebrate Venezuelan musical heritage. These are unfailingly melodic, alternately wistful and nbrilliant, and characterized by a distinctive syncopation. The first three were composed in Ecuador while Lauro was on a tour. Years later, after the pieces had been published, Lauro dec ided to name them after his niece Tatiana, his sister Andreina, and his daughter Natalia. The fourth waltz is in a rondo form with curious chromaticism and unexpected harmonies; it was named for a picturesque mountainous area of western Venezuela.
