This video focuses on Aristotle's work, the Nicomachean Ethics, and examines his discussion in book 8 about the type of friendship (philia, in Greek), that is based upon pleasure (to hedon) - either pleasure derived from the other person in some way, or pleasure that is shared in by the members of the friendship.

This is a more lasting kind of friendship that that of utility or usefulness, according to Aristotle, but it is also one that is subject to disolve as the pleasures people appreciate change. Aristotle also considers it to be common among young people. Many romantic or erotic relationships are of this type as well.
