During the Budget Session of Parliament, Congress president and Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge spoke out after the opposition staged a walkout.

Kharge condemned comments made against India’s freedom fighters and leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, stating: “Our many big leaders who sacrificed their lives, fought with the British to achieve freedom, went to jail… if such things are spoken against them in Parliament, we condemn this.”

He emphasized that modern India is built on the vision of leaders like Nehru ji and Indira ji, and criticized the government for remaining silent on insults directed at them during parliamentary proceedings. Kharge added that the opposition walkout was necessary as they were not being allowed to speak in Parliament.
