Here at Shedd, we are always looking for ways to go above and beyond for animals and their care. Tune in as Erica, Senior Director of Animal Care and Sustainability, explains the most recent proactive endeavor to better understand the welfare of resident beluga whales and Pacific white-sided dolphins.
Following this assessment, Shedd's animal care team closely analyzed the results and took action by adding more varied and complex enrichment items to the rotation of inventory. Toys like feeder puzzles, balls, hoops, tubes and more ensure the animals are getting the most fulfilling physical exercise and mental stimulation.
