In Part 1 of the Sonic Mania playthrough, we knock out the two first (and most obvious) throwback zones in the game's lineup: the suddenly very open-sandbox Green Hill and the new, wacky version of Chemical Plant!
By the mania, for the mania. When Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and Padoga West games teamed up to turn finely-honed fangame-making talent toward the development of an official Saturn-styled 2D Sonic game, I don't think anyone quite expected that the result would be this good. Join the BrainScratch Commentaries crew on a magical adventure full of ups, downs, and all-arounds... and not a little bit of nostalgia! Sonic must thwart the evil Dr. Eggman's scheme to use the mysterious Phantom Ruby for world domination as usual, but what's familiar isn't so predictable anymore in this amalgamation of every good thing you ever remembered about Sonic's pre-Dreamcast adventures!
