The government has urged LPG consumers not to panic over booking domestic gas cylinders. Addressing concerns about supply disruptions, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, clarified that the normal delivery cycle for household LPG cylinders remains around 2.5 days.
The assurance comes amid rising concerns and panic booking triggered by global supply pressures and tensions in West Asia. Officials said misinformation has led to hoarding behaviour in some areas, but the government maintains that India’s crude oil supplies remain secure and LPG distribution is continuing normally.
To stabilise the system and prevent black marketing, the government has also extended the minimum gap between LPG refill bookings from 21 days to 25 days. Meanwhile, authorities have asked states to monitor distribution and take action against hoarding to ensure fair supply for households across the country.
