Описание: Sheeva chatted with fired probationary CDC and NIH employees about their current work leading organizations dedicated to political advocacy to support public health and biomedical science research.

Note: Sheeva (a former Census employee) and the three interviewees all spoke personally and not on behalf of any government agency about our personal views, not in our official capacities as former federal workers.

Anna Culbertson is a former Scientific Program Specialist from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. She also serves on the board of a rare disease patient advocacy organization, Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome Network. Anna, along with others, co-founded 27 UNIHTED in the wake of the large-scale NIH termination and reductions in force (RIFs) to bring together the NIH community, support one another, and fight for the future of health research.

Aryn Melton Backus is a former Health Communications Specialist with CDC's Office on Smoking and Health. She co-founded Fired But Fighting/The National Public Health Coalition to help support current and former feds and to advocate for the future of public health and its role as a government service.

Abby Tighe is a founding member of Fired But Fighting/The National Public Health Coalition. She worked as a public health advisor in the Division of Overdose Prevention at the CDC.
