Why doesn’t the Punjab government build dams near its rivers? Currently, Punjab has only one major dam, the Mangla Dam, located on the Jhelum River. On the other hand, Indian Punjab has no major dams, allowing excess water to flow directly into Pakistan. This uncontrolled water destroys thousands of villages and towns before finally reaching the Arabian Sea. Without proper dam construction and water management, Pakistan continues to face recurring floods and heavy losses. Strong infrastructure planning is urgently needed to address this crisis.
