I built a surfboard completely out of solid basswood and shaped it by hand with nothing but a planer. No foam, no fiberglass — just pure wood. To give it a unique look, I stained the rails to bring out a darker contrast against the lighter deck, almost like blending two woods into one.
This build was all about slowing down, feeling each pass of the planer, and creating something timeless. Wooden surfboards are heavier, but they ride with flow and carry history in every wave.
