Deep snow changes the rules a little, and sometimes the biggest adjustment is trusting momentum.
In this video, Lucia Glasse-Davies from Fernie Winter Sports School breaks down how to adjust your skiing when the snow gets deep, focusing on turn shape, flow, and letting the skis run to maintain speed and control.
When the snow gets deep, friction increases, so instead of forcing tight turns, think about adjusting your turn shape to keep flow and speed working for you. Let the skis run a little more down the hill and focus on controlling the feet and legs underneath your body. That muscular support creates a strong, stable platform so both skis move together, making it easier to trust what’s happening under you.
Fernie just got a full refresh, and there is still plenty out there waiting to be skied. Go find your flow.
