I looked to the Lord for help, and He answered me;

Those who turn their eyes to Him shine with light;
their faces are never covered in shame.


This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him;
He saved him from all his troubles.


The angel of the Lord sets up camp around those who fear Him;
He surrounds them and keeps them safe.


Taste and see for yourself that the Lord is good!
Blessed is everyone who runs to Him for refuge.


Fear the Lord, you His holy people;
those who fear Him will never go without what they truly need.


Even young lions can go hungry and lack,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.


Come, children—listen to me;
I’ll teach you what it means to fear the Lord.


Whoever wants to love life and see good days—
keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.


Turn away from bad, do what’s right;
search for peace and chase after it.


The Lord watches over those who do right;
He listens closely to their cries.


But the Lord’s face is against those who do evil—
to wipe out any memory of them from the earth.


When the righteous cry out, the Lord hears;
He delivers them from all their troubles.


The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
He saves those whose spirits are crushed.


A righteous person may face many hard times,
but the Lord rescues them from every one.


He guards all their bones;
not one of them will be broken.


Evil will kill the wicked;
those who hate the righteous will pay the price.


The Lord redeems the life of His servants;
no one who takes refuge in Him will ever be condemned.
