Here are some mind blowing facts about ladybugs:
1. There are more than 6,000 species of ladybug (Coccinellidae)
2. They can lay as many as 1,000 eggs at one time, but not all of them may hatch. In fact, during periods where food is in short supply, a ladybug will venture back to the eggs and consume the eggs and larvae.
3. Instead of heading south for the winter, ladybugs living in colder climates enter diapause, a type of insect hibernation.
