FOX 21 Weather: Friday Morning, January 16, 2026

Описание: A clipper began to bring snowfall to the Northland yesterday and we will continue to see snow showers through the day. Early on today, many of the snow showers will be along a band going through western Lake Superior, where 1-3 inches of additional snowfall is expected. This is where we have Winter Weather Advisories in place until noon today. Areas farther east also under advisories will see those expire at noon tomorrow, as northwest winds behind a cold front later today will initiate a gravity wave band and lake effect snow. This is where 2-5 inches of additional snowfall is expected. For the snowbelt region, Winter Storm Warnings are in place. This is where we can see over half a foot of snowfall, with some areas receiving over 1 foot in the higher terrain. We will see conditions dry Saturday before another clipper brings light snow early Sunday, heavier for the South Shore snowbelt.

These systems are also going bring some quite blustery winds, which will generally be out of the northwest. This will allow for Arctic air to seep into the Northland, with highs by Monday potentially staying subzero and lows well below zero. Wind chills will make it feel much colder, so keep a look out for cold weather headlines. We will warm a bit next week, but the cold is going to want to hang around for the remainder of January.
