Sweet Release - Unfinished Yume Nikki Fangame

Описание: In honor of Yume Nikki's 20th Anniversary, I decided to show off this Yume Nikki fangame I at one point in time was working on. The game is called Sweet Release (as in, the sweet release of death) and follows a girl named Kanashiitsuki (かなしいつき) as she explores many different dream worlds, detailing her declining mental health. I only got so far because I did not like how it looked but I might go back to it one day, if I can figure out how to make better pixel art. Let me know if you think I should revisit this.

There were going to be a number of events based around different cultures and some horror elements, and I made a decent amount of graphics and music for the game, particularly the latter because making loops of music is a lot of fun. There was also going to be only one ending, and the Nexus is themed around a museum, with different worlds being unlocked under certain conditions.

Ideas I had for effects include:

Bloody - The character wears a bloody dress and covers her eyes, making the screen red and letting the player see things they would not normally see. Like the glasses in Yume 2kki.
Mouth (shown in video) - Like the knife effect, to eat characters to get rid of them.
Monochromatic (shown in video) - Like the Medamaude, returns you back to the Nexus.
Antidepressants - The character becomes a giant thing of antidepressants, and like the Cat effect makes characters attracted.
Butterfly - To traverse certain areas, a combination of the Witch effect and the Fairy from Yume 2kki.
Vinyl - The character has a vinyl record for a head and works similar to the Flute effect.
Matryoshka - The character becomes a big Russian nesting doll and can spawn smaller and smaller ones, like the Dwarf effect.
Crossing Guard - The character wears a uniform and carries a stop sign, makes characters stop like the Stoplight.
Nazca - The character becomes a Nazcan being and can cause certain things to happen.
Ame-Onna - The character becomes the Japanese legend of a rain woman, and can make rain appear in any area.
Cactus - Disguises the character as a cactus, making other characters not chase or disturb the player. Like the Triangle Kerchief.

Ideas I had for events include:

One where you man an ice cream truck
One where you see two twins dancing in the sky occasionally like Takofuusen
One where you watch too many shock videos until you get traumatized
One where you ride a hawk
One where you visit a cat café
One where you go to a Russian Orthodox church service
One where you take shrooms and start seeing things
One where you see La Danza de los Viejitos
One where you sit on a bench in a cemetery and then zombies appear
One where you walk through an alley and when time runs out you get shot
And the ending.
