The COVID-19 global pandemic has upended a world that already faced significant political, economic, and social disruption. This fall, MSFS will host an online symposium for all GSFS students to explore and discuss how the global system has been changed and what the future might hold. The symposium is centered on a weekly series of interviews with high-level practitioners and leading SFS scholars who will assess the consequences of COVID-19 for issues in international affairs. Topics include great power competition, fragile states, democracy and disruption, the global financial system, the role of social media, public health and racial injustice, and much more. Each interview will be followed by a discussion among SFS faculty and students on the topic.
