Here's a complete edition (from a Umatic dub of the original 2" master tape, thus without either commercials or news break) of Today in Chicago with Norman Mark on WMAQ Channel 5. His guest is Chicago Mayor Michael Bilandic, in the wake of the Blizzard of 1979 that would sink his chances for election; Hizzoner comes to speak about the city's future (in the eighth of nine parts dealing with the future of Chicago).
Includes:

Segment 1
Opening titles (theme: "Breezin' " by George Benson)
Norman previews his guest (nothing about the snows until the end), and then lists community events:
String, oboe and bassoon players needed for National College Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble also needs players
Computer training program for physically disabled and homebound people at Chicago City-Wide College
He then cites one viewer who mentioned no mosquitoes, grass or leaves as benefit of recent blizzard, before signaling for break
"Stay tuned for more..." bumper (music: "My Kind of Town" by Frank Sinatra)
CG slate and tone with Segment 2 indicator
Norman introduces "Chicago's most famous jogger" who brings up excuses in recent snows as it relates to his jogging, before going to serious business about jobs and industry in the city vs. the South, long-term changes in character of employment, the evolution of State Street, how the past is a key to the future, and new industries popping up (he cites apparel which Chicago had not had up to then), before Norman calls another break
"More to come..." bumper (music: "Chicago" by Frank Sinatra)

In this segment, Mayor Bilandic touches on how some neighborhoods are more stable than others, how others have radically changed from long ago, the shifting of the Gold Coast area, the restoration of certain other areas and accompanying rise in property values, and the Bilandic loan plans; plus questions about stadiums, the Central Library, the "L" structures, transportation in general, airports and a new terminal for O'Hare, railroads ("you can never move a Sherman tank in an airplane"), and the Democrats' future. Norman signals for the news break.

The discussion finally shifts to the recent blizzard, with the Mayor emphasizing that snowfalls are neither Democratic nor Republican nor independent, going over the people's response to the recent snows (which he has characterized as the worst the city ever experienced), the subzero temperatures of late (just one month into winter!), what he could have done different, a 14-year-old's suggesting on how the city should handle future weather of that type (underground heating pipes to melt snow on street), future discoverers of reactions to "acts of God," and the costs of snow removal, before the interview ends and Norman previews next day's guest (Gov. James Thompson) and advises to stay tuned to Today.

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:
