This webinar will share the details of an international research collaboration between Dr. Leigh Graves Wolf (UCD Teaching & Learning) and Dr. Michelle Schira Hagerman (Faculty of Education, University of Ottawa) which explores the ethical dimensions of Generative AI in teacher education. The research project was designed to develop pedagogical strategies that empower pre-service teachers, and teachers of pre-service teachers to understand and leverage generative AI systems ethically and critically.

About the Speakers

Leigh Graves Wolf is an Assistant Professor in Educational Development. She teaches on the University Teaching and Learning programmes. She has particular interest and expertise in all aspects of online learning, critical digital pedagogy and qualitative methodologies.

Michelle Schira Hagerman is an Associate Professor and Teacher Education Program Director with the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. Through her research, she examines the complexities of digital literacies learning, teaching and research practices in contexts of schooling.

Sajani Karunaweera, a graduate student from Sri Lanka, is deeply dedicated to the area of educational technologies and how digital tools can be used in critical, reflective, and accessible ways. Whether it is in the context of teaching, assessment or professional development, her work attempts to capture the use of technologies, not as a replacement for teaching, but as a tool for the discerning teacher. Her involvement in the project builds on her motivations to promote safe spaces for students to express, explore and expand their knowledge, with technologies as a facilitative teaching tool.
