Break-in at Dixon Veterans Hall causes thousands of dollars in damage

Earlier this week, the Veterans Hall in Dixon was broken into, resulting in the theft of more than $2,000 and extensive damage to their property, prompting the community to rally in support. "It's a safe space for veterans to be with their brotherhood and their sisterhood," said Greg Young, American Legion Post 208 commander. "Weddings are here. Quinceañeras are here, birthdays, retirement parties, but also the solemn aspect of memorials are here." Young said someone broke into the building through the back door sometime before Dec. 23 and stole thousands in cash from the ATM and safe. Both were broken open and are no longer usable, he said.
