At 2500ft, I expected this 4004 to carry much farther. When it faced away, it was barely audible. Strangely enough, my camera which usually has a more muffled mic picked it up better when it faced away better than my actual ears. If someone was driving in their car with the radio off, I doubt they'd notice it from this distance.
I've been about the same distance away from a 4004 in a tornado warning, even with trees in the way and the alert tone was very audible inside a moving car. From my observation, ALERT trumps BPPT.
